Huw Daniel is retiring as CEO of Platinum Guild International after 21 years with the group.
He will be succeeded on April 4 by Tim Schlick, PGI’s current chief operating officer. Schlick joined the organization in 2015 as chief strategy officer.
Daniel was named president of PGI USA in 2003 and became CEO in 2015. During his tenure, PGI “evolved from a marketing/PR/event machine to a business partner with the jewelry industry,” Schlick said in a statement.
Prior to PGI, Daniel worked on De Beers marketing campaigns in the Asia/Pacific region, and counted British Airways and Procter & Gamble among his advertising clients.
PGI’s “next logical step is to apply what we have built over the years to unlock more opportunities for the trade,” said the statement by Schlick.
