On Sept. 13, Hindman Auctions will host its Important Jewelry sale and offer timeless pieces from jewelers including Harry Winston, Cartier, Tiffany & Co., and plenty more (with no shortage of diamonds).
Among the curation are brooches from the personal collection of award-winning jewelry designer Evelyn Clothier, who was known for her art nouveau–inspired designs of fantastical creatures and dainty florals. “It is a joy to be able to offer jewelry from the personal collection of jewelry designer Evelyn Clothier,” Karina Hammer, Hindman’s specialist for jewelry and watches, tells JCK. “These distinctly elegant and antique-inspired pieces feature beautiful gemstones in harmony with the intricate craftsmanship of the plique-à-jour enameling technique. It is this combination that really makes her pieces stand apart.”
Another notable piece in the sale is the Harry Winston platinum ring shown above, which showcases an exceptional pear-shape diamond, flanked by two smaller pear-shape diamonds. “Weighing in at 7.4 carats, our cover lot is a striking Type IIa diamond ring from Harry Winston,” says Hindman’s senior specialist for jewelry and watches, Ruth Thuston. “Mr. Winston is an iconic name in the jewelry world, and to present for sale such a gorgeous diamond from the house is quite exciting.”
Other highlights from the sale include classic examples of Cartier pieces (the platinum-and-diamond ring and brooch shown above) as well as an exquisite, vintage Piaget wristwatch with a flexible link bracelet that boasts a gold nugget motif and tiger’s-eye dial (below).
