When founder/co-owner Jess Gardner and the team at Hello Adorn were dreaming up their new retail space, they knew they wanted a color scheme that was soft, warm, and complementary to the jewelry they would sell there.
The solution? An earthy peach tone called Ginger Nut, a perfect blush of a color that brings together the light wood, cozy textures, and greenery that Gardner loves. She says Hello Adorn’s new flagship store in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, serves as both her creative canvas and a platform to introduce customers to her brand.
Hello Adorn‘s jewelry is sold internationally via its website, but Gardner says she wanted a brick-and-mortar store from the time she started the brand in 2016. The new location at 312 S. Barstow combines a studio and a jewelry store, along with a small greenhouse.
“I knew we had to have a greenhouse in the back, even before we found this space. It had to be a place for plants and planters, with lots of floating shelves and light,” Gardner says. “My favorite thing to do is to go to our local plant store and walk around to look at the cactus.”
The Barstow store opened in late 2022, and the community has kept Gardner as busy as she was at her previous studio and home locations, she says. Hello Adorn has an extremely popular permanent-bracelet bar called Endless Bracelets, and the new store also has space for pop-up shops, parties, and other events the company regularly hosts.
At the new flagship, Hello Adorn’s jewelry—including its signature minimalist gold and sterling silver cuffs, twist earrings, and layering chains—are in open displays made from light wood.
The store carries other locally made products, from apparel to skin care to stationery. Gardner says her goal is to support Wisconsin and area makers.
“We wanted a physical space where we could show off all of things we love,” she says. “My sister is the lead merchandiser, and we came into this without a formal plan. We just knew we were going to buy the things we like. If I loved it and it spoke to me and I genuinely use it, it was in.”
With her personal selections of merchandise and close relationships with the people who help her manufacture the jewelry, the new store reflects Gardner’s self. And it represents impressive growth from making her jewelry in her kitchen and then in a 350-square-foot studio.
“We wanted an opportunity for people to feel what our brand feels like in person,” Gardner says.
