Frédéric de Narp, the president and CEO of Harry Winston, has resigned from the company after three years in the role.
According to a report in the April 1 New York Post, which broke the news, Nayla Hayek, the current chairwoman of new owner Swatch Group, will assume de Narp’s role. However, a Swatch statement said, “We have no further comment as to whom will take over the position of president and CEO of Harry Winston.”
Nayla Hayek is the daughter of Swatch Group founder Nicolas G. Hayek, who died in June 2010.
The report also said that de Narp is leaving with a $15 million exit deal. However, the Swatch statement said the company “cannot comment on any agreements that have been taken between former owner of Harry Winston (now Dominion Diamond Corporation) and Frédéric de Narp. This includes his departure date and exit package.”
Dominion declined comment. An inquiry to de Narp’s Winston email address went unreturned.
De Narp, the former president and CEO of Cartier North America, became president and CEO of Harry Winston in December 2009.
Swatch just completed its purchase of Harry Winston on March 26.
In related news, Winston’s former owner, Dominion, just received final regulatory approval for its purchase of the Ekati diamond mine. That transaction is expected to close on April 10.
