Harris Originals announced last week that Beverly Harris was promoted to chairman of the board and John Zimmermann was hired to replace her as president and CEO. These management changes were effective Aug. 15.
Harris will remain actively involved in the company, but is relinquishing her day-to-day operating responsibilities to Zimmerman.
“John Zimmermann is a valuable addition to our company’s management team. He brings to Harris an extensive retail background and proven track record based on three decades of successfully operating and growing businesses within the specialty retail arena,” said Harris in a statement. “We feel fortunate to bring on board a CEO and leader of his caliber, and I know my father would be extremely proud to see John at the helm of the company he worked so hard for over 50 years to make the success it is today.”
Zimmermann previously worked as corporate group president and president of Zale North America. He had previously served as Zale Canada’s corporate senior vice president and president. Zimmerman also held senior merchandising and executive positions with retail chains that included The Children’s Place, Bon Marche, The Broadway Stores, Contempo Casuals, and Bradlees. He also served as president for North America for Claire’s Stores.
Harris Originals has 21 stores throughout the United States.
