Last June, JCK editor-in-chief Victoria Gomelsky clocked the season’s most stylish watches and honed in on rainbow as a colorway to watch.
Almost a year later, with Baselworld canceled and all of us holed up in Pandemic Land, colorful wristwatches are still an alluring candidate for enticing customers who have the rainy-day blues.
A number of these, rendered in a rainbow–meets–spring garden palette, recently fluttered into my inbox. They are the newest styles from Hublot, since the Swiss luxury brand has postponed the unveiling of its Baselworld releases.
And while Hublot is traditionally known for its larger and more technical pieces, these newcomers have the effect of stumbling on crocuses, daffodils, and hyacinths, or a phalanx of cherry trees, in a formal public garden deserted by its usual visitors due to social distancing guidelines. Or the glimmer of a rainbow after a punishing rain.
