The early 2000s and the boundless energy around a new beginning that came with Y2K are the inspiration behind Ukrainian fine jewelry brand Guzema‘s collaboration with model and influencer Delilah Belle Hamlin.
Metamorphosis, their seven-piece collection debuting today, includes a choker, earrings, ear cuff, bracelet, and rings in 18k yellow gold and diamonds. Its main motif, the butterfly, is a symbol of rebirth that Hamlin and Guzema cofounder Mariana Lenha say holds deep meaning for them.
“Delilah and I both love the butterfly. It is the ultimate symbol of this transformation—so delicate and lovely yet so powerful,” says Lenha.
“This collection is all about accessorizing with signature pieces, which is what I remember most from the early 2000s,” she says. “A body chain peeking out from the bottom of a crop top, a choker with dangling charms—the jewelry of the era was either bold and graphic or delicate and playful. And this collection nods to the latter. It is youthful but infused with meaning.”

Prices for Metamorphosis jewels range from $1,110 for a butterfly ring to $4,700 for the Orb Chain bracelet with diamonds. The collection’s name relates to each individual’s journey through life.
“It’s the growth, reinvention, and change that happens in life—the shedding of one thing to reveal something else beautiful beneath,” explains Lenha.
Metamorphosis follows Guzema’s recent capsule with fashion label 3.1 Phillip Lim, Both collections are aimed at expanding the jewelry brand in the U.S. market. The Lim collab has been successful, Lenha says, but the success is bittersweet because of the war in Ukraine.
“Like the butterfly, I am forever changed,” she says. “But my new self is stronger, wiser, and more powerful than it was before, and I carry that strength proudly into this next chapter.”

For Guzema cofounder Valeriya Guzema, the new collection’s butterflies and yellow gold remind her of Y2K-era optimism, which she needs to hold on to at this time in history.
“The last three years have been rife with challenges and heartaches,” Guzema says. “But I am entering 2025 committed to embracing joy, and that is what is collaboration has been for me.”

Lenha and Hamlin decided to collaborate on a collection after meeting through mutual acquaintances and talking about the model’s love of jewelry.
“It’s tied up in memory and nostalgia for her, particularly as it reminds her of her mother and grandmother and their signature styles,” Lenha says. “And this is how I feel too. Jewelry is incredibly personal. We clicked about that right away, and it was a natural extension to do something together.”
In a statement, Hamlin said she wanted to feature the butterfly in the Guzema jewelry because of what she’s experienced in her personal and professional life.
“Like a butterfly, we all go through different stages of growth and transformation. Over the past five years I’ve felt a personal shift, like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly,” she said. “That transformation represents my growth, challenges, and, ultimately, becoming the person I am today. The butterfly’s wings are a nod to that journey—I’ve entered a new phase in my life and I’m ready to fly.”
