Greenland Ruby has named geologist Arnt-Eirik Rørnes (pictured) its new CEO.
He takes over from Magnus Kibsgaard.
Rørnes comes to Greenland Ruby after extensive experience in the oil industry, including stints as an exploration manager for Rosneft Nordic Oil and exploration director for DONG Energy.
For the past six months, he has assisted Greenland Ruby’s owner, LNS, with the assessment of new mining projects.
In his new role, Rørnes will develop a strategy for increased sales, review historical mining data, and guide the mine’s operational strategy.
Frode Nilsen, CEO of LNS and chairman of Greenland Ruby, said in a statement that Rørnes will help develop Greenland Ruby and “strengthen the company in the important phase it is in now.”
Added Rørnes in the same statement: “The LNS Group has always fascinated me, and their willingness to think unconventionally and [willingness] to bet comes through clearly in a pioneering project like this. It is particularly important for me to succeed in making this a financially sound project.”
