Gorjana Continues Midwest Expansion With First Michigan Boutique

Share

Jewelry brand Gorjana continues to spread out from its Southern California base with new stores nationwide, including a Detroit-area opening today and an Indianapolis location expected to debut this summer.

The new Troy, Mich., store—Gorjana’s first in that state—is located in the upscale shopping center Somerset Collection. Gorjana is on the north side of the mall, where Nordstrom, Macy’s, a year-old Breitling store, Blue Nile, Swarovski, and Tag Heuer are also found.

At its 900-square-foot Somerset Collection store, Gorjana is stocking the cases with diamonds, opals, sapphires, and more, showcasing its fine jewelry collections together with more accessible pieces in gold vermeil and sterling silver, says company cofounder Gorjana Reidel.

“We are so excited to bring Laguna Beach to our newest jewel box destination in the Somerset Collection,” Reidel tells JCK in an email interview. “We have loved getting to know our Midwest shoppers and can’t wait to help them find the perfect layers for any summer occasion.”

Reidel and her husband, Jason Griffin Reidel, founded Gorjana in 2004 and now have 73 brick-and-mortar locations across the United States. The Somerset Collection store has a similar bright white exterior and interior design theme as other Gorjana boutiques, with the brand’s California roots represented in the golden color of its name and logo.

Inside, Gorjana seeks to establish a feeling of warmth through its open shelving for costume and demi-fine jewelry. The store features custom, California-inspired landscape artwork, plush seating, and blush-colored terrazzo.

“From its Southern California roots to an expansive national presence, Gorjana has secured a strong position in the jewelry industry,” said Andrew Forbes, vice president of leasing for the Forbes Company, owner of the Somerset Collection, in a statement. “We are looking forward to welcoming Gorjana to the Michigan market and offering our guests the opportunity to experience this exceptional, charitable, and growing brand.”

In the statement, Forbes said his company is “thrilled” to have Gorjana in the mall. Located on both sides of Big Beaver Road at Coolidge Highway, the Somerset Collection has more than 180 stores and restaurants.

Philanthropy and community-building are central to Gorjana’s mission, and the company has donated more than $2 million over the past few years to nonprofit organizations that support a range of causes, with a particular focus on women and children through its partnerships with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Baby2Baby, Toys for Tots, and Dress for Success.
