The Golden Globes are this Sunday! There’s just something about the kickoff to awards season that gets me positively thrilled—even if the majority of the shows themselves are, at best, mundane. I’m not even sure that I’m all that excited for the show itself, but as anyone in our industry can attest, the opportunity for jewelry spotting is always great.
Though one would obviously hope that jewelry isn’t the biggest news from the red carpet this year—now more than ever Hollywood has quite a few, erm, other issues to worry about, bring awareness to, and take a stand against—I still plan to delight in the adornments that do shine brightly. It has been suggested that many celebrities plan to wear black to the Globes, in solidarity with the #MeToo movement (my colleague Emii’s jewelry pairings, here), and that will almost certainly be the top news from the show. I do feel that to really make a statement, one should be as pared-down as possible, but the jewelry lover in me is still holding out for a few fabulous pieces.
While I’m very much looking forward to what Tinseltown’s biggest names turn out in, I am, quite frankly, much too cold right now to think about ballgowns, black or otherwise. The only reasonable red carpet item to daydream about right now is jewelry, if ski boots and heavy down coats have no place at such an event.
But the reality is, those stars will be clad in dresses of some sort and, most likely, they’ll be sleeveless and perhaps even strapless (brrrr), so my one request is that they adorn that bare skin with a wonderfully warm-looking (even though it likely feels cold) necklace. Might I offer these suggestions?
