When Vahé Ghazarian and Esin Guler, design partners in Boston-based G&G Creations, started making a ring dubbed the Grand Entrance, a miniature of a home’s exterior, they couldn’t help but wonder what the interior of the proposed home should look like. To satisfy their own curiosity (and perhaps give the Entrance ring a mate), the duo designed the Living Room ring in sterling silver and 18k gold.
For four months, the pair worked on the piece, starting first with the furniture: a plump accent chair with carved “wood” details and leaf fabric impressions, a black diamond–topped table, and an adjacent floor lamp complete with jump rings serving as beaded fringe. Underneath the furnishings: a rug of 3.45 cts. t.w. rose-cut blue diamonds. Debuted to the trade at the Jewelers of America Summer Show, “It was a real eye catcher,” Ghazarian tells JCK. “Everyone had to stop and touch it, and everyone kept saying it was a museum-quality piece.”
So far, just one store, also in Boston, has taken interest, besides the press (the ring was recently photographed in JCK‘s October cover shoot). It retails for $35,000.
The Living Room ring has 26 grams of silver, 22.7 grams of 18k gold, 5.2 cts. t.w. red garnets, 3.69 cts. t.w. black diamonds, 3.45 cts. t.w. rose-cut blue diamonds, 2.25 cts. t.w. yellow sapphires, 1.45 cts. t.w. blue sapphires, 0.65 ct. t.w. rubies, and 0.62 ct. t.w. diamonds; $35,000.
