Houston-based designer Katie Scott is transferring design skills from her 12-year-old interior design business to fine jewelry. Scott debuted Katie Scott Fine Jewelry in 2013 to unite personal style with spirituality, featuring motifs such as thorns, starbursts, eagles’ wings (“Eagles soar above difficult circumstances,” Scott explained at a press preview last week), and crosses, among others. Some jewels feature a black nickel finish that has been e-coated, and all are made in the U.S. in silver, 22k gold vermeil with a 100-mil gold finish, or 14k gold. Stylist crossover from interiors to jewelry includes a sense of peace and calm and contrasting light and dark colors, oftentimes in black and gold in a nod to her hometown team the New Orleans Saints.
