This Greek jeweler crafts dramatic sculptures to wear
Though Michael Pelamidis’ eponymous firm is just four years old, he’s been making jewelry for 20 years for others in Bangkok and Paris. He is now based in Thessaloniki, Greece, and his own work is rendered in a dramatic fashion, with voluminous metal and stone creations in silver and 18k gold that speak to wearers’ equally oversize flair. Pelamidis’ collection is heavy on rings, as he sees them as extensions of personalities. “I play with rings in organic forms and as sculptural art with nature references,” he explained at Baselworld 2016 last week. Expect to see lots of quartz, a fave for its varied colors and textures, as well as horn used collection wide.
