Lab-grown diamond manufacturer Gemesis is set to offer a 1.78 ct., G color, SI1 clarity, princess-cut lab-created diamond on its website.
The diamond, which is certified by the International Gemological Institute, is classified as Type IIa—referring to gems that are devoid of nitrogen. According to Gemesis, the diamond is the largest, whitest synthetic diamond currently available.
In April, Gemesis presented a 1.29 ct., E color, VVS2 clarity, emerald-cut diamond that it claimed was the whitest and largest lab-grown diamond of its kind at the time.
“We are delighted at the progress the lab-created category, and Gemesis in particular, has achieved,” Gemesis management said in a satement. “One of our ongoing goals at Gemesis is to continue to present high colors and quality with increased regularity to meet increasing consumer demand; and we are well on our way.”
The lab-grown diamond manufacturer has embarked on an ambitious website expansion campaign in recent months. In October, for example, Gemesis began selling pink lab-grown diamonds online.
