Luciana Paix’s colored-stone-rich collection of finished jewelry is the result of growing up in a family that was among the first to find gemstones in the Minas Gerais state in Brazil. The designer behind Paixão Joias pulls her gems from her family’s loose stone division and sets them into modern 18k gold pieces—think ear climbers and jackets and oversize cocktail rings—with contemporary cuts of quartz, rubies, emeralds, and more. And while the gemstones are the stars of Paix’s designs, evident themes include Art Deco styling, myriad joyous color combinations, and wide earring backs featuring different designs such as hearts, Stars of David, rococo motifs, and others that are ideal for those with damaged lobes. (The earring backs can be purchased separately.) Paix does not speak English but the IBGM trade group can assist with correspondence.
