Former Gucci executive Matt Marcus has joined jewelry e-tailer Gemvara as chief marketing officer.
Prior to joining Gemvara, Marcus was vice president, executive creative director for R/GA in Chicago, where he worked on brands including Grey Goose, Capital One, MillerCoors, and Abercrombie & Fitch. He also designed and established Gucci’s global e-business presence as worldwide director of eDivision.
“My expertise in both luxury retail and digital marketing are a strong fit with this team so totally dedicated to revolutionizing the fine jewelry shopping experience,” Marcus said in a statement.
The company also announced that its sales tripled on Black Friday, and that its average price increased 20 percent.
This is not the company’s sole recent high-profile hire: In November, industry veteran Susan Chandler joined as chief merchandise officer. Gemvara also recently opened a pop-up shop in its hometown of Boston.
