I’ve been blogging quite a bit about brown gemstones as of late, bubbling over champagne diamonds and going gaga for jewels featuring brown zircon and smoky quartz. I just like that hue this time of year, and I know I’m not the only one to be bitten by the autumn color bug. I was married in the fall, on a gorgeous October day when the leaves were crisp and colorful and the air was cool. Being an autumn bride meant the world to me, and though I sport a more traditional engagement ring, I can imagine carrying that season with me always: Yup, I’m talking brown diamonds. In terms of trends, no, I don’t think brown diamonds in bridal are at their peak right now. But I think they easily could be, particularly when designers can be inspired by pieces like these. I think brown diamonds look best in rose and yellow gold, a warm combination, though I was pleasantly surprised at the way a number of these in white metal turned out—not at all cold, as I imagined they would be. Give it up for the immaculate design skills of these stellar brands!
