Jewelers, it’s time to make room in your estate cases: For Future Reference (FFR), the New York– and Los Angeles–based showroom/marketing consultancy, has introduced For Future Reference Vintage—comprising unsigned vintage and estate jewelry personally curated by FFR founder Randi Molofsky—to its portfolio of services.
A FFR Vintage collection landed at Bergdorf Goodman in New York last week, and others are available at such fine jewelry establishments as Just One Eye in Los Angeles, Twist in Portland and Seattle, and Stephanie Gottlieb online. (All jewels pictured here are sold at Bergdorf’s, prices on request.)
“I am curating the assortment specifically for each store based on their customer and needs, but always with an eye towards my particular style of bold statement jewelry,” says Molofsky.
FFR is well known for its stewardship of independent jewelry brands that have gone on to win awards—and that often end up at the most prestigious retailers. With a keen ability to recognize rising stars, Molofsky and her team have helped such brands as Harwell Godfrey, Retrouvaí, and Buddha Mama ascend in the luxury marketplace.
Now, Molofsky is applying this skill—and her gloriously, inimitably stylish point of view—to create capsules of vintage and estate pieces. She launched FFR Vintage at NYC market in February.
“I’ve been selling vintage and estate jewelry for years and knew there was a customer for these pieces, so I really saw a hole in the market and wanted to fill it,” she says. “Stores understood the idea immediately because there is a tremendous value proposition in unsigned jewelry, and they knew that I have a good sense, stylistically, of what the market is looking for.”
Molofsky’s personal collection of period jewelry and timepieces served as the foundation for this project. The longtime vintage devotee will work exclusively with Excalibur, an L.A. shop renowned for collectible estate jewelry and watches, to mine its vast archive for statement pieces made between the 1940s and 1980s plus a sprinkling of one-of-a-kind finds from the Victorian, Edwardian, and art deco eras.
In other words, the kinds of eye-catching pieces you wish were hiding inside your grandmother’s jewelry box.
Molofksy is currently putting together selections for Marissa Collections in Palm Beach and Naples, Fla.; Stanley Korshak in Dallas; Ylang Ylang in St. Louis. the Loupe in Minneapolis; and Metalmark stores in Denver, Phoenix, and Carmel, Ind.
