This holiday season I have found myself in an extra festive spirit of decorating. While other people may have spent their weekend shopping for the best deals on gifts, I spent most of it on the hunt for more cheery tchotchkes to liven up the house with (okay, I shopped for gifts, too).
I’m not sure if it happened organically or I was inspired by the viral shower curtain rod hack for hanging garland (probably a bit of both), but I’ve been focusing heavily on greenery, lured by every “buy one, get one free” offer and other sales on garland and wreaths.
Why should you be concerned with my home holiday decorating, you ask? Well, you shouldn’t be. But the reason I’m telling you this is to highlight the fact that foliage plays a major role this time of year, and I now find myself searching for it everywhere—including in jewelry.
During the holidays, our senses are tantalized by so many wonderful things—things that look sparkly, feel plush, smell of cinnamon or pine, or taste of sugar—but greenery is a consistent backdrop to it all. Whether entwined with lights or tied up in bows, hanging at an entryway (to be kissed under) or adorning a table, a bit of nature goes a long way. This is true in jewelry, as nature touches so many of the wonderful creations available for us to enjoy.
So now that I’ve decorated my home in all things green, I’d like to echo the practice in jewelry—with botanically inspired pieces, some kissed with gorgeous green. Here is a selection of favorites. They’re not just a seasonal trend, but evergreen: beloved jewels for any time.
