Luxury online retail platform Farfetch has teamed up with renowned jewelry expert Susan Caplan to present a collection of 80 rare jewelry pieces from the Christian Dior archives.
The never-worn pieces were sourced by Caplan from a private collection and include include necklaces, rings, earrings, brooches, and bracelets dating from 1976 to 1998. All the jewels were handmade by Dior’s master modeler of more than 20 years and feature Swarovski crystals (though the metal is non-fine, in the classic mode of fashion ateliers that also make jewelry).
The collection launched exclusively on Farfetch.com Oct. 30.
Caplan tells JCK that the cache of Dior jewels came to her by way of a trusted industry source: “One of my suppliers knew that I would be interested in a private collection of highly preserved Dior vintage pieces, and so the story unfolded from there,” she says. “I’ve invested 35 years in this industry—first as an antiques dealer, then as a vintage jewelry curator. And throughout that time I have built a large network of trusted suppliers [from] all over the world who know of the high standards that jewelry needs to meet before I even look at it for my collections.”
Here are a few of the more intricate and interesting pieces from the Christian Dior x Susan Caplan collection, many still available on Farfetch.com.
