Ethical Metalsmiths, the nonprofit group devoted to responsible business practices, has opened an online store selling jewelry made out of previously used items.
The Radical Jewelry Makeover Store, which opened Aug. 1, features jewelry fashioned from donated, unwanted, and broken materials that were either destined for landfills or languishing at the bottom of jewelry boxes. Jewelry pieces for sale were all designed by members of the Radical Jewelry Makeover Artist Project or were entries in the Rejewelry Competition—both initiatives of Ethical Metalsmiths.
The site currently features necklaces, bracelets, brooches, and earrings, with prices from $65 to over $1,000.
