On Jan. 31, 2023, Walter Huehn will step down as CEO of De Beers subsidiary Element Six, after close to 10 years in the job.
Element Six is focused on the development and production of synthetic diamond and tungsten carbide super materials. It’s also the division that owns Lightbox, De Beers’ lab-grown diamond brand, which recently also appointed a new CEO.
Huehn has served as CEO for Element Six since March 2013. Recently, he has driven the business’s focus on harnessing the potential of new applications for synthetic diamonds, including in quantum technology, according to a De Beers statement.
“Synthetic diamonds have the potential to transform the world of technology, and Walter’s successor will work closely with the leadership team to ensure Element Six remains at the forefront of innovation in the advanced material solutions sector,” said De Beers CEO Bruce Cleaver in a statement.
