It’s true that we saw a ton of neckwear during 2019’s red carpet events—most memorably, Lady Gaga’s Tiffany-sponsored stretch of glittering jewels, from the Golden Globes to the Academy Awards.
But elsewhere, earrings still have their claim on the big-time jewelry assortment to invest in, showing up on the fashion week runways of New York, Paris, and in between.
While I think hoop earrings have the strongest trend-worthy declaration, there’s really no earring silhouette that isn’t popular right now. Huggies? Check. Studs? Those, too. Long, shoulder-dusting styles, worn in pairs or singles? Yes and yes.
So I guess what I’m trying to say is: Earrings are where it’s at. When considering what to refresh your spring stock with, you really can’t go wrong with any variety of them—which is where Kaali Designs comes in.
The San Diego–based jeweler recently unveiled a new line of earrings, and there’s something to please everyone—so long as they’re fans of the dangling variety.
And who isn’t?
This is the first time I’ve seen a big selection of earrings from Kaali Designs. For the most part, I’ve been enjoying its gorgeous selection of rings and necklaces (like this Britt’s Pick from 2017). My favorites are the pair of diamond-shape drops in blackened silver, with just a hint of yellow gold for contrast, and a V-shape line of sparkling diamonds (pictured at top)
“For me, I think it represents a maturing of me as a designer and venturing beyond my comfort zone,” says Anit Dodhia, Kaali’s founder and designer, when I ask why he decided to introduce more earrings. “With earrings, there are so many more design options—and movement!”
