Dominion Diamond chairman and CEO Robert Gannicott will be on medical leave until mid-February.
During that time, Gannicott, who has served as CEO since 1999, will “undergo important treatment,” the company said.
Lead director Dan Jarvis will become acting chairman, supported by industry veteran Ollie Oliveira.
Brendan Bell, current executive vice president, will become acting CEO, supported by Elliot Holland, vice president responsible for the Jay Project and business development.
The miner owns the Ekati mine in Canada’s Northwest Territories, as well as 40 percent of the nearby Diavik mine.
