If you’re an independent jewelry designer looking for a home, reach out to Deka Jewelry in the West Village of New York City. The five-year-old boutique, run by owners Yanni Katakis, a gemologist, and Elena Thiveou, a jewelry designer, devotes itself to bringing under-the-radar jewelry to the market. At any one moment, Katakis and Thiveou feature 10 designers and artisans from the U.S. and Europe.
All pieces at the boutique are individually designed, handcrafted, one-of-a-kind, statement-making jewelry you won’t find anywhere else. While providing exclusivity to its customers, Deka also gives crucial support and credibility to the jewelry designers themselves; Katakis and Thiveou believe the work they select is underrepresented in the U.S. Deka’s pieces come in gold, silver, and platinum; precious gemstones, pearls and diamonds and range in price from $100 to $20,000. Aside from under-the-radar jewelry, Deka provides a full range of custom design and bridal jewelry to its clients.
