Ideal Diamond Solutions has hired David Norman as senior sales and marketing advisor. Norman was most recently with eDiamondselect, following many prominent positions in the jewelry industry.
IDS is a Web 2.0 jewelry industry platform. The New York-based company debuted in July. In a statement it said Norman is one several new hires.
“I’m pleased to join IDS in it’s launch phase,” Norman said. “It’s the most comprehensive plan for traditional jewelers to use the web to their best advantage. It gives them a well-designed site with ecommerce built in so that they can connect with a virtual diamond inventory, a virtual designer inventory and information from a host of industry players.”
Norman will work with independent retailers to upgrade their existing sites into IDS sites that share one platform that offers a menu of customizable services. Vendors and retailers use their own “dashboards” to share product images, descriptions, and availability with each other to increase Web sales that support the traditional supply chain.
Norman’s experience includes 23 years at the Fox’s Jewelers, where he ultimately served as executive vice president of Merchandising and Marketing; a stint with Reeds Jewelers as vice president of Merchandising and Marketing; a move into e-commerce as executive vice president of Marketing for ijewelry.com; president of Schwarzchild Jewelers; a lead consulting role with Crescent Jewelers to develop a Hispanic division. For the last four years, he ran his own industry consulting business, Retail Jewelry Consultants, before joining one of his clients, eDiamondselect, full time earlier this year.
