I don’t know the reason, but it only recently occurred to me how effortless bracelets can be.
I suppose it’s because I can’t seem to disassociate bracelets from really big pieces—the statement cuff from the early 2010s made a big impact on me, which is cool except that means the bracelet category has always felt the furthest from everyday wear than anything else.
Which is obviously not accurate. People wear bracelets every day—many go without ever taking them off, as some might a necklace or earrings.
With the rise of chain-link jewelry, easy-wear bracelets deserve a brighter spotlight. Chain necklaces feel the most impressive, especially in the larger, thicker styles, because they’re centrally located and stand out beautifully from either a layered collection of necklaces or alone.
But a bracelet is wildly impactful. Especially as we begin leaving our layers behind (T-shirt weather is close), bare wrists get an upgrade with a simple gold chain.
Or, a silver one.
As for links—there are a variety to choose from, but the curb chain seems prominent. The flat, twisted links are offered in a variety of sizes and shapes, creating a lengthy lineup for those wanting to score their first chain bracelet. Throw in offerings of gemstones or charms, and there are some tough choices to make (a good problem to have). Some of these are liberal interpretations of the curb, and that’s the way I like it.
And despite the curb chain being a very universal style, designers once again have shown how their own aesthetics can differentiate one very lovely piece from the next. These are some favorites.
