A new collection takes inspiration from the moon and the stars and the beauty of the night sky
The moon and stars have long inspired creativity, from music to tattoos to baby names and jewelry. And designer Martha Seely recently succumbed to the soothing effects of the night sky by making the Shooting Stars collection in silver and 14k gold.
Fifteen wearable, stackable, and layerable styles exist to date with a “modern sensibility” that Seely adores, she tells JCK. “I love the pierced metal sides and how the collection fits with the rest of my designs and yet is new. The shape of the pendant is much like the crescent moon, the sandblasted black rhodium plating is the night sky, and the large and small stones—almost randomly placed—are meant to feel like the stars that twinkle in the night sky.”
Seely showed the first several pieces at JCK Tucson this year. Stone choices include moonstones, diamonds, sapphires, and even some CZ. The starting suggested retail price for silver is $310 and for 14k gold the sum is $2,210. The collection is ready to ship now, and buy-in is four pieces.
