A mythological sea creature inspires the jewelry designer’s latest looks
From teeth to waves to fins, each motif in Lisa Kim’s new Seabeast collection speaks to the same entity: a mythological beast from the sea.
“No one knows what this beast really looked like, this is left open to interpretation,” the artist muses. What we do see, however, is Kim’s vivid imagination that plays out across 14 different designs executed in 18k gold, though silver is available on request.
“Diamonds represent water,” she explains. “I also use a matte and shiny contrasting finish for the gum line of the teeth.”
Buy-in is eight pieces, and suggested retails range from $1,100 to $10,000.
Tooth ring in sterling silver, $230
Pavé Tooth pendant necklace in 18k gold with 0.09 ct. t.w. diamonds, $1,539
Stacked Pavé Scale earrings in 18k gold with 0.96 ct. t.w. diamonds, $4,225
