You may know how to sell a watch. But have you ever built one?
The American Watchmakers-Clockmakers Institute is hosting Build a Watch classes on June 3 and 4 during the 2018 JCK Las Vegas show.
The six-hour class is billed as “crash course in watchmaking.” Attendees begin with a disassembled Swiss ETA 6497 movement and then assemble the watch, learning about proper lubrication, adjustments, servicing, timing, and regulation along the way. The final step is adding the dial, hands, case, and straps. Attendees can even wear it home.
According to a statement from the group: “Collectors leave with a deeper understanding of the watches they cherish, and store staff and salespeople leave this course knowing more about the timepieces they sell, what makes them tick, and the expertise it takes to repair them.”
The classes will be held at the Vdara Hotel & Spa in Las Vegas on June 3, 4–10 p.m., and June 4, 11 a.m.–5 p.m. The cost is $1,295, and registration is here.
