Christie’s Names Bonnie Brennan CEO

Share

Auction house Christie’s has appointed Bonnie Brennan its new CEO, effective Feb. 1.

She takes over from Guillaume Cerutti, the former French civil servant who’s served as the London-based auctioneer’s chief executive since 2016. Cerutti will continue as Christie’s chairman, a role he has held since January 2024.

In addition, Cerutti will oversee artistic and cultural activities for Artémis, the holding company of Christie’s owners François Pinault and François-Henri Pinault, and will become president of the Pinault Collection of art.

His successor, Brennan, has nearly three decades of luxury experience and has been with Christie’s since 2012. Like Cerutti, she came to Christie’s after working for its longtime rival Sotheby’s.

Since 2021, Brennan has served as Christie’s president of the Americas—a region that accounts for 48% of all auction sales, according to a company statement.

That statement said that under Brennan, “Christie’s has implemented a strategy that heavily invests in technology and diversified its offerings, attracting a younger and more diverse audience.”

In the same statement, Cerutti said, “It has been a privilege and an absolute pleasure to serve as Christie’s CEO over the past eight years…. I am also proud to pass the baton to Bonnie, with whom I have worked closely for many years.”
