The Canadian Jewellers Association (CJA) has appointed Beatrice Sturtevant (pictured) as its new managing director, the Toronto-based group announced.
Sturtevant currently serves as director of operations for Alexa Translation and business unit manager for CLS Lexi-Tech, a division of Lionbridge. Both are translation and linguistic service companies.
She takes over from Brian Land, who left CJA in December after serving his 18-month contract. Office manager Carla Adams had been filling in as managing director on an interim basis following his departure.
A CJA statement said that Sturtevant’s 14 years of experience in the translation field has given her “an excellent reputation.”
“She managed and mentored staff, has always been regarded as a wonderful leader, overseeing and empowering her staff,” the statement read. “She has always been passionate about her clients, always building deep relationships with her customers, the client relationship management, risk management, operational efficiency, and professional development initiatives. She has a wealth of knowledge, having extensive experience at multiple stages of the client journey, whether it be project management, quality assurance, or client relationship building.”
