Britt’s Pick: Yvonne Léon’s Bague L’Horloge

I’ve never been much of a watch wearer—though I know there are a heck of a lot of good-looking watches out there. But a new ring from Yvonne Léon does double duty as a timepiece and a fine jewel, so it’s right up my alley.

I had the great pleasure of checking out the designer’s Bague L’Horloge (French for ring watch) in person at last spring’s Couture show in Las Vegas, and was delighted with its luxurious miniature stature yet grand impact. It reminded me of a delicate vintage watch, which as a bracelet might be too dainty for my everyday wear.

In ring form, though, the piece is bold while preserving the beauty and sophistication of such a timepiece, with Yvonne Léon’s signature modern aesthetic tied in.

Available in 18k yellow or white gold, the ring incorporates the brand’s Berlingot gold texture, with a mother-of-pearl dial and four diamond hour markers. Diamonds surround the face, completing that antique look.

Its side is where the ring mixes in modern design. Vertical rows of diamonds run down the tall profile (see photo at top)—a divine blingfest that makes for one very mega wow jewel. For the more demure, there’s a version absent the side diamonds, and it’s still nearly as grand as the ring with them.

“After years of research and work, our dream is finally coming true,” says designer Léon. “In creating these, we wanted to merge the delicacy of a ring with the precision of a watch. A true work of art, its refined design captures the essence of time with unparalleled elegance.”

The ring watch isn’t solely about its look. It’s fully functional, so you’ll always be on time—or purposely fashionably late.
