Planning for Las Vegas always puts me in a bit of a vacation state of mind—the desert is quite a lot warmer than it is here in Washington, D.C., and I often try to make the most of my flight out there by taking a little trip after the show. So while I’m dreaming of all the jewelry I get to enjoy during my time on the show floor, I’m also thinking about ditching the sneakers for open-toed shoes and just the right pair of sunglasses to protect these peepers in the Nevada sun (remember the sun-filled walk from your room in Mandalay Bay to the JCK show floor? You’d need sunglasses just for that, even indoors!).
That the jewelry I anticipate seeing during my time at JCK can also serve to represent the tropical daydream I’m currently living is something pretty special. Its hibiscus flower body has me thinking Hawaii, though I suppose it could accompany someone to any beachy locale. Glittering from the neck of a muumuu-outfitted traveler, mai thai in hand, it’s the must-have for that travel jewelry box (and one’s permanent collection, too).
