Maybe it’s because I like to believe in magic and fairy tales. Maybe it’s because the star is one of my favorite shapes. Maybe it’s because the idea of wishing upon a star is both mystical and romantic and entirely transportive from the unrelenting chaos of reality some days.
Or maybe this Shana Zappa custom creation really hits the spot for all of those reasons.
Zappa’s one-of-a-kind ring was crafted as an homage to the act of wishing on a shooting star, a ritual that embodies hope and resilience and beauty. An electric seafoam green tourmaline sits at the center of a two-tone setting detailed with milgrain and lined with 100 diamonds, with raised stars decorating the band for an echo of the central theme.

“The Wishing Star isn’t just a ring—it’s a reminder, a wearable spark of magic,” says Zappa. “It carries light. Whoever finds it is meant to wear it. I believe in going bold or going home. Style is expression. It’s ritual. When you wear something powerful, you become more of who you are.”
Designed in Southern California, the ring also pays tribute to Malibu’s serene natural attributes, the ocean and sky—two constants that remain even after the devastation in the area this winter.
“With everything Malibu has been through—the fires, the loss—it means even more to have this piece born and launched here,” Zappa says. “The Wishing Star feels like a little spark of light and renewal, a symbol that even in the darkest times, beauty and magic can rise from the ashes.”
The ring is available exclusively at Maxfield Malibu.
