Well, it’s diamond month! April has officially arrived, bringing with it warm spring temperatures (well, sort of) and the glitter and glitz of its fabulous birthstone. I look forward to a month of discovering and celebrating many, many new diamond designs of all shapes, styles, and ct. weights.
I’m starting with this one, its simplicity a big part of what lures me to it. Made in New York City by Barbela Design, its round diamond clocks in at 0.11 ct.—a stark contrast to some of the high ct.–weight pieces you’ll see featured in honor of April, but one that qualifies its categorization as a piece of diamond jewelry, nonetheless.
It’s due to the petite nature of this ring, dubbed Skylar, that it’s bound to be popular for a variety of shoppers. Barbela models Skylar as a pinky ring, which trend-ifies it, I think, and, in turn, makes it all the more intriguing (check out the listing on Barbela’s website to see it modeled—I think it looks positively stunning on the hand). The ring is available in sizes ranging from 3 to 4½, so it really is meant to be worn as advertised. Still, that wouldn’t necessarily stop someone hoping for a larger-fitting signet ring to have it sized up.
No matter how you wear it, it will look beautiful, because it’s designed that way. The detail surrounding the round diamond brings the stone to life: At first glance, I thought it to be sunshine, but upon further study, I think it may be considered more of a star (though perhaps either classification would work!). It is spirited and shiny and positively rich in yellow gold—and available in rose, too. It’s the perfect little treat to welcome April in all its springy glory.
