Britt’s Pick: This Padparadscha Ring by Omi Privé

There are many different kinds of Christmases, for me, influenced each year by what’s currently trending in fashion, pop culture, and more. Some years feel like an ode to the 1920’s, with Art Deco decorations and jazzy cocktail party dresses. Some are bold and bright, with rainbow bulbs and larger-than-life ornaments, gingerbread cookies, and spiked eggnog.

This year feels more delicate, more magical. And I know exactly why. Disney (I told you I had plenty of Disney-related news these couple of weeks!) has released its version of the iconic Nutcracker ballet this year, with its film The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. I don’t think it’s particularly well reviewed and I don’t mind—I don’t need to see it. I just appreciate that it’s there, giving way to stores filled with ethereal ballerina-esque decor, stately tin soldiers, and even his royal nastiness the Mouse King. This whimsical world filled with toys come to life makes for quite a spectacular holiday tale, and, although the ballet is a holiday staple, that there is also a version in theaters brings its aesthetic front and center.

So, with the mindset of a magical ballerina, my eye has zoned in on Omi Privé‘s platinum piece as my first holiday pick of the season. Sure, the pink center is a bit on the nose, if you find the color to be associated with ballet to be cliché, but padparadscha is a killer stone—and a popular one, too—so it’s beyond worthy either way. This one, a cushion-cut beauty at just over 5 cts., is a strawberry ice sensation that shines brighter than Rudolph’s nose and gives famous padparadschas (Lady Gaga’s engagement ring, and Princess Eugenie’s as well) excellent company.

But it isn’t only its bold color that makes this worthy of the ballet: Its tutu-like ensemble of pear-shape diamonds, twirling and swirling around the center as if in mid-pirouette, is just as alluring. It’s the kind of ring worthy of a holiday window all to itself.
