You already know that enamel has been dominating our summer jewelry sightings, so if you haven’t taken notice already, it’s time you’ve begun. From the brand’s Patterns collection, this suite of jewelry (each piece is sold separately) is depicted with a design called Nairobi. It’s bright, it’s cheerful, and it’s everything I want in a patterned piece for late summer into fall.
The earrings (above) are my favorite. Something about their triangular shape seems conducive to the pattern that decorates them—I think it reminds me of something like a pennant. The shape is also continued in the pendant below—a perfect match. But the pattern is equally beautiful on the matching ring and bangle bracelet, too, blanketing the pieces like an embroidered quilt.
According to the brand, the collection is inspired by the capital of Kenya: “It captures the vibrant colors and spirit of this bustling metropolis. Featuring hand-painted, multicolored Italian enamel on pavé-set sterling silver, Nairobi pays homage to the gorgeous patterns and textiles of this beautiful region.”
There’s a bit of personal inspiration that helped create the designs seen here, too. “One of my best friends married her longtime boyfriend from Kenya, and some inspiration for this collection actually comes from the colorful clothes he always wears,” says Carolyn Thamkul, executive vice president of Belle Étoile.
