Bangkok-based Kavant & Sharart is known for making versatile jewels, but their latest may take the cake.
If consumers are looking to embrace a “less is more” attitude toward their purchases, it stands to reason that convertible styles like these earrings are just what they need. Here, a two-tone pair of earrings goes from classic stud silhouette—albeit with a modern, shield-cut diamond at the center—to a golden wing of diamonds courtesy of a yellow gold jacket.
A white gold jacket provides a contrast in metals, mirroring the pattern of diamonds in a larger embrace that snuggles up flush next to the yellow gold layer or can be worn pointing the opposite way as the smaller jacket (both options are pictured at top).
Each earring comes with three parts and can be worn a total of five different ways: alone, as studs; with both the white and yellow gold jackets (in two different ways, as previously described); or with just the yellow gold jacket or just the white gold jacket.
Double-jacket pieces aren’t new to Kavant & Sharart—these earrings are a spin-off from their original Twist Reflection collection, inspired by Swedish artist Hilma af Klint’s work. “We kept the double-jacket concept and designed them around the shape of the center shield diamond,” says Kavant & Sharart cofounder Shar-Linn Liew. “We have been incorporating the shield cut in our designs for a couple of years. It’s one of our favorites because of the way it is cut—clean and modern, and the step cuts give it a more understated appeal.”
The earrings, which stay true to the brand’s aesthetic of mixing baguette and round diamonds, feature 0.7 ct. center stones and more than a carat of accent diamonds.
