As Valentine’s Day approaches, here is a sweetheart story—and jewel—you’ll love.
Frederic and Karen Duclos, the husband-and-wife team behind Frederic Duclos, are celebrating 35 years in business this year. In 2011, when I joined JCK, they were one of the very first brands I had the pleasure of working with, and their continued success is a beautiful thing.
“I would sum up our first 35 years in this incredible industry as a gift,” says Karen Duclos. “Our longevity has provided us with wisdom, friendships, and the ability to make the world more beautiful, one piece of jewelry at a time. We are fortunate to be able to work together every day as a husband-and-wife team, and be nimble enough to embrace change to ensure our success for decades to come.”
“Although we may not be splashed across the pages of Vogue, we are still here!” Karen continues. “Our greatest pleasure is when we meet someone wearing our jewelry and introduce ourselves—the end-consumer reaction is truly priceless and reminds us of how lucky we are to be in a ‘happy factor’ industry.”
Aside from a flair for jewelry design and sparkling industry relationships, their loving relationship has to be a factor of their success. As proof, Frederic designed this pair of earrings for Karen, in honor of their 32 years of marriage. And they’re just in time for Valentine’s Day!
The earrings feature dangling rose gold–plated hearts, wire-wrapped and giving off a slight sparkle. They have a sweet rustic look that sets them apart from the diamond heart jewelry you’ll see everywhere this coming holiday, and their two-tone design means they’ll have plenty to match with.
“This rose heart is a symbol of deep emotion, and the delicate wire chain wrapped around protects it like a cocoon,” says Frederic. “The bright reflection of the rose-plated chain spun around the heart illuminates it from all angles.”
Congratulations to Frederic and Karen Duclos, and may they have another wonderful 35 years in this business (and another 32 years of marriage and more!).
