A ring fit for a star—arguably the world’s most in-demand star at present—that’s what Cece Jewellery founder Cece Fein-Hughes was recently charged with creating, and interestingly enough, the request came from another popular celebrity.
Gigi Hadid (you may have heard of her) caught wind of a social media campaign run by Cece Jewellery, which asked its Instagram followers to guess the celebrity pets that Cece featured in sketches of its jewelry designs. “We included [Taylor Swift’s cat] Benjamin Button after he debuted on the cover of Time,” Fein-Hughes tells JCK. “Gigi had been following our journey for a while, so when she saw the post, she DM’d us asking to purchase it for Taylor, and we started working on it right away. I was thrilled to hear that Gigi said Taylor loved it, and we hope to see her wearing it soon.”
Benjamin Button, who costarred with the Time Person of the Year on the magazine’s cover, is central to the custom design, pictured on the signet ring’s oval-shape surface, surrounded by a border of pearls and accented with a duo of starry diamonds.
Within hearts on the shoulders of the ring are Swift’s famously favorite number (13) on one side and 87—the jersey number of the singer’s NFL beau, Travis Kelce—on the other. And on the inside of the ring, a nod to Swift’s most recent album: TTPD, standing for The Tortured Poets Department.
“It was such an honor to create a piece for Taylor Swift, gifted to her by her best friend Gigi, which made it even more special,” Fein-Hughes says. “We create bespoke pet portraits all the time, so making one for one of the most famous cats in the world, for the icon that is Taylor Swift, was a dream come true.”
