In the realm of heart jewelry, there are some pieces you never forget. Auvere’s Lotus heart pendant is one of those pieces, and as it was introduced a few years back, it’s had plenty of time to keep spectators under its spell.
Designed in 2022 for Sotheby’s “Brilliant & Black: Age of Enlightenment” exhibit—a selling showcase for contemporary Black designers that was held that September in London, in honor of the late, great Terry Castro—the Auvere necklace is a bit of luxury that can be worn anytime, anywhere.
A fiery lotus sits at the center of the heart, the lotus’ glossy gold petals gleaming as they surround a ring of nine diamonds, reverse-set to show us their sharp sides. On to the next layer: A border of round brilliant diamonds adds classic sparkle, to root this piece in a timeless state. The pendant’s outermost edge is a jagged frame, its polish in contrast to the matte finish at the backdrop of the pendant’s center, which sets the scene for the blooming lotus.

“The sculptural heart pendant represents the ‘one love’ vibe of the Rastafarian and reggae cultures of Jamaica, where I was born,” says cofounder and designer Gina Love. “‘One love’ is an expression of inclusion, unity, and connection. Flowing from a circle of reverse-set diamonds are the petals of an open lotus flower—a symbol of strength, resilience, enlightenment, and transcendence. The inverted diamonds and the serrated edge surrounding the heart represent the curiosity, sharpness, and readiness required to reach mountaintops.”
I am quite partial to Auvere’s rich 20k yellow gold jewels (a pair of earrings from Love took up residence on my ears years ago and haven’t left), and I love seeing such a grand—but wholly wearable—piece like the Lotus. It is still available via Sotheby’s, and the luckiest valentine might just gobble it up this year.
