Despite the general consensus that this year’s Emmy jewelry lot was severely lacking, there were a few bright spots in the sea of couture on the red carpet. Two of the night’s brightest shining stars, Modern Family‘s Sofia Vergara and Breaking Bad‘s Anna Gunn satiated our thirst for statement ears: both sporting drops, although quite different from one another, similar in their linear, multicolor gemstone designs. Vergara, who we just knew would bring the bling, accented her voluptuously worn red Vera Wang with Lorraine Schwartz platinum triple-drop earrings, featuring over 100 carats of unheated ruby, sapphire, and Colombian emeralds—and not to mention that 40-carat emerald cocktail ring! Anna Gunn, donning one of my favorite gowns of the night, a black lace and the creamiest pink Romona Keveza, enhanced her look with Irene Neuwirth opal drop earrings. And while the theme of the night seems to have echoed minimal, delicate jewels and so incredibly un-red-carpet stud earrings, the tiniest handful of trends to emulate made appearances. One being, as paraded so perfectly by the aforementioned ladies, drop earrings featuring multicolor gemstones, some in complementing hues, others contrasting, still the final product appearing to cohere beautifully. Like these drop earrings from Gemveto: Kunzite and aquamarine gemstones dangle green amethyst teardrops in 18k white gold, framed with sparkling diamonds. They’re a little piece of red carpet glamour brought to the office, to date night, the couch, even—wherever, whenever. And the pastel hues, perfectly on point with the soft colors we seem to be gravitating toward as we begin to near (gasp!) winter. So if you’re priming your showcases with colorful combinations like these, might I suggest you start with this promising pair?
