Here’s a fun distraction from our multiday presidential election: New York City–based designer Jules Kim, founder of streetwear-inspired fine jewelry brand Bijules, has debuted a pair of designs created expressly to embellish our AirPods. The Earpod Jewelry Project is the latest in a series of nontraditional adornments Kim’s created that includes Gold Nipples (gold nipple covers; see them on Cardi B. in the “WAP” video) and Nail Rings (rings that sit at the end of your fingernail and incorporate a press-on-style nail, but in real golds). The two Earpod designs—a classic midsize hoop and a tight ring set with a 2 ct. diamond that when worn resembles a diamond stud—slide onto an AirPods’ chunky ends (the part that hangs out of your ear), replacing traditional earrings. The classic hoops come in 14k white or yellow gold ($500) and also in silver and vermeil ($250)—while the diamond “studs” are available in 14k white and yellow gold ($350). The collection uses recycled jewelry materials, including repurposed wire. The twin styles can be worn alone, or together on the same ear pod. Both styles are sold as a pair. “The Earpod Jewelry Project encompasses my own creative journey, from low to high, from the streets of New York City to the [heights] of luxury,” Kim tells JCK. “These pieces reflect…the future of jewelry style.” In a prepared statement, Kim detailed that the idea of bejeweling AirPods was inspired by athletes in New York City: “The concept is an elegant salute to training and pre-match fashion, while being connected to the sound of winning. In this collection, I’ve combined street style with on-court looks as seen in the 40th Summer series by photographer Alessandro Simonetti.”
