For me, the phrase Mommy & Me conjures images of Laura Ashley circa 1988, with a beautiful mother and daughter in matching Easter or Christmas attire, strolling the grounds of an English estate. And I’ll admit it: Now that I have a daughter of my own, I still kind of dig the idea, but we’ll see how that pans out. This kind of thing might be allowed in Connecticut, but it’s definitely not what I would consider cool.
What I would consider cool is jewelry designer Alison Lou’s new Mommy & Me collection of baby bracelets and companion options for mom that came out earlier this month, perfectly timed for Mother’s Day gifting. When the line’s founder Alison Chemla posted its debut on Instagram, she said:
“I’ve been making these baby bracelets for my friends for years, it’s been so fun to watch their babies grow into them so excited to finally offer them on our site (just in time for Mother’s Day)! During this challenging time we decided to move forward with our launch (as planned) cause what brings more joy to life than babies! Happy shopping“
Here’s a look at the pairings the designer is suggesting, but, of course, you can order each piece individually (example: Get the name necklace with your daughter’s name, and let her wear it when she’s older) or come up with your own Mommy & Me matchup (an older mom and daughter could get the same puffy heart necklace, but with different enamel colors).
Shipping delays are a pretty common thing right now due to COVID-19, so if you need it by Mother’s Day (May 10), get your order in ASAP.
Top: Here’s me and my mini, last fall. I feel like her little wrist is perfectly precious as is, but a little flash of gold—for each of us—might make things feel a little shiner and happier during this topsy-turvy time (photo by @cristinalozito).
