The American Gem Society debuted the Angular Spectrum Evaluation Tool (ASET) at The JCK Show ~ Las Vegas 2005. The ASET is a device that shows optical symmetry characteristics and the light-handling ability of a diamond.
The ASET is used to assess optical performance in faceted diamonds. Unlike other devices, it reveals details about the light-handling capabilities of a diamond. By logistically color-coding what is seen when looking at a diamond through the view port of the ASET, consumers are able to make better buying decisions.
The ASET is available in a desktop model as well as in a hand-held unit. The desktop model is available for an introductory price of $495 for AGS members and $995 for nonmembers. The hand-held model is $49.95 for AGS members and $99.95 for nonmembers.
“The ASET was developed by our Advanced Instruments Division to support the new AGS Performance Cut-Grading System,” says Ruth Batson, executive director/CEO of AGS.
