The American Gem Society (AGS) has canceled its 2021 Circle of Distinction Dinner in New York City, due to the continuing concerns around the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event, where AGS doles out its Triple Zero and Lifetime Achievement Awards, was scheduled for July 27 at the Plaza Hotel (pictured).
This is the second year in a row the event has been canceled.
AGS will announce its 2021 recipients in the upcoming months. The honorees will be recognized this summer in a special edition of the AGS quarterly publication, Spectra, as well as at the 2021 Conclave, which has been rescheduled for September.
The Conclave, which was originally supposed to take place in April, will now take place Sept. 12–14, at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel.
“We are going to miss seeing our friends in New York at the dinner, but the safety of our guests at the event is the top priority,” said Katherine Bodoh, CEO of the American Gem Society and AGS Laboratories, in a statement. “We look forward to honoring our recipients at Conclave in a very special way and will have details on that in the upcoming months.”
She added, “We are so thrilled that there is light at the end of this tunnel and look forward to being with the members of the wonderful jewelry community.”
