Sotheby’s New York Important Jewels auction fetched $10,535,821, marking the third consecutive record total for a February sale of jewelry at Sotheby’s.
Highlights of the sale included a 6.46 ct. Tiffany & Co. diamond ring, which sold for $560,500 and a 0.51 ct. Fancy Vivid Purplish Pink diamond ring, which earned $338,500.
The sale also featured an additional selection of jewels from the collections of Estée Lauder and Evelyn H. Lauder. Combined with the December auction, the Lauder collection sold for a total of $22.8 million, with proceeds benefiting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
“We are very pleased to have achieved another top result for our February sales in New York,” Gary Schuler, head of Sotheby’s Jewelry department in New York, said in a statement. “Today’s auction demonstrated the market’s continued appetite for exceptional diamonds.”
