This weekend, for many of us across the United States, is daylight saving time. For this time of year, that means we “spring forward” by setting the clocks forward one hour, thereby “losing” an hour of the day.
This brings about some mixed emotions—never mind the controversy that observing daylight saving stirs up. On the one hand, setting our clocks forward one hour means the light stays with us later in the day, ushering in the spring season and making our days look and feel longer—a hallmark of summer that is utterly beloved.
On the other hand, we’re tired. We lose an hour of our day! Which means, for many of us, we lose an hour of sleep—or at least, we feel like we do—because we wake up a little earlier in order to fit everything into our day.
So while this (allegedly) necessary moment in time will no doubt have our Mondays feeling even Monday-er next week, it assuredly brings good things. Like flowers, bright colors, and warmer temperatures. To get excited for it, let’s focus on all of these springy jewels to keep up our energy and our hopes for a new-season high. Good things are ahead!
