Spring has sprung in Switzerland, and it’s brought a slew of new timepieces featuring fresh green dials just in time for this week’s Earth Day celebrations. Below, we cherry-pick our favorite new models introduced at Watches and Wonders Geneva last month, a mix of masculine and feminine styles featuring intriguing—and experimental—uses of ceramic, lacquer, guilloche, and other dial finishing techniques.
Hublot Big Bang Integral Ceramic
Hublot’s new range of Big Bang Integral Ceramic models—introduced in four colorful limited editions (green, beige, blue, and sky blue, representing the elements of earth, wood, and water)—builds upon the brand’s pioneering work with ceramic. Equipped with trendy integrated bracelets fashioned entirely out of satin-finished and polished ceramic, the 42 mm models are each available in 250 pieces. $24,100; Hublot
IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Top Gun Edition “Woodland”
The high-tech, engineered ceramic used to encase IWC’s new line of Pilot’s Watch chronographs takes its cues from the Topgun flight school. The dark green color of this edition—dubbed “IWC Woodland” by Pantone—is inspired both by the flight suits and uniforms worn by the school’s elite pilots as well as the forests they fly over during their top-secret missions. $10,700; IWC
Montblanc 1858 Iced Sea Automatic Date
Artisans at the Montblanc workshop used an ancestral technique known as gratté boisé to achieve the textured look of the polished charcoal green lacquered dial on the brand’s new 1858 Iced Sea Automatic Date steel watch. Designed to evoke the glacial lakes of the Mont-Blanc Massif, the icy look of the dials brings a new level of depth and luminosity to the brand’s latest range of sports diving watches. $3,190; Montblanc
Patek Philippe World Time Ref. 7130R
Ref. 7130, the ladies version of Patek Philippe’s famed World Time model, was introduced in 2011. Now available with a fetching olive green dial, the watch is housed in a 36 mm rose gold case loaded with more than a carat of diamonds, including 62 stones on the bezel and another 27 on the prong buckle. $57,960; Patek Philippe
Rolex Datejust 31
The floral motif on the olive green dial of this 18k yellow gold Datejust 31 features 24 diamonds of varying sizes arrayed against a backdrop of high-tech finishing techniques. Also featuring 46 brilliant-cut diamonds that decorate the bezel and the iconic President bracelet, the model is a perfectly petite addition to the Datejust’s ever-evolving legacy. $41,400; Rolex
